Named storm winds tore tiles from the rear pitch of this 1930s High Wycombe cottage, opened the roof covering, and drove rain into the loft and first-floor bedrooms. Ceilings sagged, plaster failed, and water tracked into the landing and bathroom.
The owners needed the building made weathertight overnight, a clear structural view for their insurer, and a reinstatement programme that would not leave the cottage open to further weather for weeks.
Emergency tarping secured the roof the same day. A structural survey confirmed the extent of rafter and ceiling damage, and scaffolding was programmed immediately so permanent roof works could follow without delay.
Internal drying, plaster repairs, and decoration ran in parallel once the envelope was closed. Our project lead coordinated six trades across an eight-week programme, returning the homeowners to a dry, fully reinstated home with insurer documentation complete.
